Solo Batik or Surakarta Batik are recognized with sogan (brown) motif on pale yellow cloth. Solo is well known as the center of Javanese Hindu culture. Hindu culture strongly influenced the batik art in Solo. Motifs like "meru", dragon and bird represent symbolic characters, applied on cloth according to the Hindu philosophy. Motif does not only carry the beauty but also messages and heartfelt expectation that the person who wears the batik is blessed and happy.

Babon Angrem motif which means "brooding hen", as the name suggests this motif reveals the stylized image of brooding hen that symbolizes a newly-wed couple's hopes for a blissful marriage, children, and everlasting welfare.
Such hopes are suggested by images resembling ovaries that cradle budding organisms, and many batik aficionados even say that the images represent a womb laden with pulsating seeds and sprouting life. Delicate floral patterns surrounding the ovaries suggest female fertility.
